Our expert employment law solicitors offer specialist representation for opticians in all cases presented by the General Optical Council (GOC).

The Regulatory Process

The disciplinary process, as outlined by the General Optical Council, is carried out according to the following procedure.

All evidence will be gathered by a caseworker provided by the investigation committee; this includes information provided by the optician for their defence. The optician may be suspended or be held to specific conditions or restrictions under an interim order for the duration of the investigation.

The case will progress to a full hearing before the practice committee if the examiner finds sufficient reason.
